NAIROBI — Kenya and Mozambique have reaffirmed their long-standing bilateral and diplomatic relations, which have flourished for over 50 years, underpinned by robust cooperation in trade, agriculture, and investment.
President William Ruto held talks with Mozambique’s Prime Minister, Maria Benvinda Levy, at State House, Nairobi, where both leaders expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of their partnership. They noted that the 2018 introduction of a 90-day visa waiver for citizens of both nations has significantly enhanced people-to-people interactions, boosting tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange.
The two leaders reviewed progress on the implementation of eight memoranda of understanding signed during President Ruto’s historic State Visit to Mozambique in August 2023. These agreements span key sectors, including value addition in tea, sugar, and coffee, as well as collaboration in the blue economy, legal assistance, and public service training.
President Ruto commended the growing synergy between Nairobi and Maputo, underscoring that the cooperation aligns with both countries’ shared vision of sustainable economic growth and regional integration.
The talks marked yet another step in cementing Kenya–Mozambique relations, demonstrating a renewed commitment to mutual prosperity through enhanced diplomatic, economic, and social engagement.
